Coping with a Black Swan Event – Auckland Airports Experience

A discussion on how Auckland Airport coped with an extreme event

Hosted by the Auckland Branch of the Transportation Group jointly with the Institute of Transportation Engineers

Join Tim McKenzie, Auckland Airports Infrastructure Programme Director, to hear about the experiences of the Auckland Airport as it was faced with a response to a Black Swan event.  Going from 1.9 million passenger in the month of January 2020 to around 40,000 passengers in the month of April 2020.

Tim will talk about how this situation impacted the airport, how they responded, some of the challenges they had to overcome, some opportunities that were presented by the situation and some lessons learned about how to respond to a Black Swan Event.

The Auckland Branch and ITE will sponsor nibbles and refreshments prior to the commencement of the panel discussion.

Open to members only.

Auckland Branch – Annual Quiz Night

Form a team with your colleagues and battle it out against your fellow Transportation Group members to decisively determine Auckland’s smartest transport team.  Last year was another great success with close to 100 participants. Ideally we are looking for company/organisation teams of between 4 – 8 people.  If you have more than 8 wishing to attend then we ask that you create two or more teams. If you are an independent then please let us know and we will team you up with others in a similar position as we did last year.

The winning team will be awarded a $100 bar tab plus the honour of winning and all the associated bragging rights entailed therein.

The committee will sponsor nibbles, and a free drink for the first 20 people through the door.

The Paddington will be running the quiz for us and it will be in the normal format.

Team registration closes on Tuesday 10th August at 5:00pm.  Please provide details of Team Name, Organisation, and the number of team members so as to allow us to finalise catering.
