The intense level of public interest in transportation can make providing expert advice fraught with difficulty. The Transportation Group is here to lighten the load on your shoulders as the voice of the profession.

Let us know what burdens you are carrying, and what events, submissions and guidance you would like from us! For example, we’re currently developing a set of Transportation Group Positions for you to refer to in your work – a bit like Engineering New Zealand’s climate change position statement.

We are fortunate to have two well-connected and inspiring guest speakers to get the ball rolling:

  • Thomas Nash, Transport Committee Chair, Greater Wellington Regional Council

Thomas has 20 years’ experience as an organiser, strategist, advocate and negotiator, including a leading role in the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons – which must be familiar territory when talking road space reallocation and climate transition. He came back to Aotearoa in 2017, has been an elected councillor for four years, is committed to economic, social and environmental justice, and lives in Pōneke with his partner and young child.

Adam designed his first raised pedestrian crossing many years ago, and carries thought leadership and expert technical advice into the halls of power. How does he survive? What would he say to transport professionals about the state of the profession and what we can do as it grows beyond its 20th century roots?

Event Schedule:

  • 5:15pm: Arrival time
  • 5:30pm-6:00pm: Speakers
  • 6:00pm-7:00pm: Share your challenges on post-it notes or verbally, along with networking over drinks and nibbles

If you can’t attend, we still want to hear from you! Let us know if we’re on the right track by filling in this 3-minute survey now: forms.gle/MKPuadyTQmWHYCjD6
