John Lieswyn – Director & Principal Transportation Planner, ViaStrada Ltd
John is a former two time US national road cycling gold medallist and bicycle store owner who now plans and designs streets for people of all ages and abilities. John was the lead author of the Waka Kotahi Research Report 621 Regulations and safety for electric bicycles and other low-powered vehicles. Based on his annual LIDAR traffic surveys of people using e-bikes and micro-mobility devices, he recently authored Speed surveys of powered transport devices for Waka Kotahi – including recommendations on geometric design to support their growing use. John can often be seen piloting his bright orange e-cargo bike around Christchurch with a Doberman riding in the front.
Ben Dodgshun, Emily Cambridge and Richard Bailey – Peloton Design Team
Ben, Emily, and Richard from the Peloton design team will be there to explain features of the routes we’ll be riding, and how considerations for e-bikes are factored into the designs. Peloton is a collaboration of Beca, GHD and Stantec, who have delivered the route selection, scheme and detailed design and construction management of a number of the Major Cycle Routes.

I need a Lime e-bike (provided for free)

After riding, we’ll head to Punky Brewster Bar and Fillery. Light snacks will be provided.
